FAQ

Is Pop Zero gluten-free? Vegan? Kosher?

Pop Zero is gluten-free and vegan. However, we are not kosher certified.

What are algae oil and algal flour?

Algae oil and algal flour are ingredients derived from algae. We use algae because it’s the healthiest and most sustainable oil on the market. The algae is grown in a fermentation tank, and then pressed to make oil and milled to make flour. The algal flour gives our popcorn a buttery flavor without all the saturated fat in butter.

Are some people allergic to algae products?

For a small percentage of consumers (~0.3%), algal flour can cause nausea, vomiting, and/or gastrointestinal distress. These individuals most likely have a sensitivity to algal flour, and they should avoid consuming products containing this ingredient.

Why do you use algae products?

Algae is a renewable food source with a remarkably high crop yield (seriously, look it up). It’s non-GMO, vegan, and high in monounsaturated fat. We use algae oil because a healthier, more sustainable product simply doesn’t exist.

Does Pop Zero popcorn contain GMOs?

We’re dedicated to keeping our popcorn clean and free of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). But Zero GMOs is just the beginning.

What is the shelf life of Pop Zero popcorn?

Our popcorn is fresh for 8 months from the date of packaging. If it’s been in your pantry uneaten for that long… you might want to clean out your pantry.

Is there seriously no butter added?

Seriously. So say goodbye to greasy fingers, and say hello to less than 155 calories (and all the flavor that comes with it).

Is Pop Zero popcorn organic?

At this time, we are not pursuing organic certification. Let us know if you think we should!
